Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to our last day of Term One. How quickly one quarter of our school year has already gone!
Since the last newsletter we’ve had a flurry of COVID-19 cases. In fact we’ve had over 70 students and staff test positive to the virus and many others be close contacts. Most staff and students have now recovered which is really great to see. I would like to thank all families for being so proactive in having their children tested and informing the school. I know having unwell children is awful at any time but this virus is very worrying. As a school we extend our well wishes and thoughts to all families experiencing the challenges of COVID- 19.
Recently, we started a Breakfast Club for our students. On Wednesdays, Mrs Black and her team are providing toast, cereal, fruit and smoothies to any students who may have either missed breakfast or would like a little more breakfast. We look forward to extending this to other mornings in the future.
Many of our school gardens are overflowing with vegetables and we thank Mr Millington our Science teacher for his great leadership in this area.
Thanks to Mr Basile, our school choir has started up again after a year of not being possible. We’re excited to hear the melodic voices of the students early next term.
From the beginning of the year our assemblies have been over the school PA system where students could only hear what was being said. Today we held our ANZAC commemorative via Teams where the students and staff could watch on their TV screen the proceedings. We had a few glitches but hope to have them all ironed out next term. We will endeavour to include families as much as possible next term in our assemblies and other events.
I sincerely wish all families a very enjoyable holiday break. May you stay well and safe.
See you on Tuesday 26 April 2022.
Kind regards

This term we have been investigating Biological Sciences with students from Year 1 to Year 6 by watching life grow or wither, exploring our gardens and sampling our summer produce of tomatoes, capsicums, beetroots, corn, basil, parsley, lettuce and butternut pumpkins. Some classes were lucky enough to have eaten pumpkin scones, roast sweet potatoes and tomato chuckney (with corn chips of coarse).
But all good things must come to the end, so Bunnings Treendale has helped us with the planting of our Autumn crop. Many thanks to Christie from Bunnings and our school gardener, Luke, for on the 9th March, LA3 Year 1 and LA14 Year 4, planted seedlings that included eggplants, beans, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, rhubbard, brussel sprouts and capciums and many more other vegetables.
We look forward to returning in Term 2 and finding out what has grown. Next term we will be looking the Physical Sciences with classes. This is certainly going to heat things up in term 2.

REMINDER - NO DOGS ALLOWED ON SCHOOL GROUNDS - NEW SIGNAGE
Our awesome school gardeners and some Year Three students have been busy putting up some new signs around the school in response to the increased numbers of dogs onsite. Just to let all families know for the safety of the children and adults, the Education Department of WA do not allow dogs or any unauthorised animals onto any school site . Whilst safety is our greatest concern with dogs onsite we have also had an unwanted increase in dog droppings being left on the oval and in our sandpits. Due to the increase of ‘deposits’ we have placed signs around our school as a friendly reminder not to bring your animals at any time to our school.
We thank you for your support.
This fortnight our Core Virtue is : Friendliness
Friendliness is being a friend. It is taking an interest in other people. It is going out of your way to make others feel welcome or to make a stranger feel at home. When you are friendly, you happily share your belongings, time, ideas and feelings. You share the good times and bad times together. Friendliness is the best cure for loneliness.
