PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

As this is the last newsletter for 2019, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Kingston Primary School staff, parents and students on another wonderful year. It has been a privilege once again to be principal of this great school. I wish everyone a very happy and relaxing Christmas holiday break and look forward to working with you again in 2020. To the year 6 students who commence their high school adventure, be kind, be resilient and aim high.

Thursday 19th December will be the final day of school for students and the day will finish at 2.45pm with students in Yr 1 - 5 forming a human tunnel for the year 6’s to walk through and be farewelled. School will then break up for 2019 on the 3.00pm siren.

Students are invited to wear Christmas celebration clothing on the last day to celebrate the end of the year. Any student attending the graduation assembly must be in school uniform.

School staff will be working on Friday 20th December. They will not be available for interviews as they will be in meetings all day, finalising class lists, compiling handover notes for next year’s teachers and moving resources to new classrooms.

School Reports

On Tuesday 17th December, formal reports will be sent home with students.

2020 School Commencement

Some important dates to remember for 2020.

  • The front office will be open for business on Tuesday 28th January from 9am.
  • Teachers resume on Thursday 30th
  • Students resume on Monday 3rd February.

2020 Class Lists

Lists will be displayed in the undercover area of the school from Thursday 30th January and Friday 1st February. Parents will be informed through the Kingston Primary School App the specific times these will be posted once the office re-opens next year. We leave posting lists as late as possible as with the unknown number of enrolments that tend to come in over the holiday period.

Taking photographs of lists is expressly forbidden and anyone seen using phones or cameras to do this will be asked to leave. It is inappropriate to post class lists on any public or social media. The lists will not be available over the weekend. They will once again be available on the first day of student attendance for 2020, Monday 3rd February, at 8.00am.

Significant amounts of time have gone into class placements and parent information that was submitted by the due date was, where possible or appropriate, acted upon. I ask that parents respect the complexity of the task. Not all requests could be acted upon due to the complexity and occasionally conflicting requests.

If, in the first weeks of school, parents wish to discuss placements they can make an appointment through the front office. Appointments for this purpose will only be made from week 2 of the school year.

2020 Student Executive

Congratulations to the following students who were elected onto the 2020 executive team.  The School Captain positions for both year 6 will be announced at the graduation ceremony on Thursday morning.

Henry Millington, Lucy Rogers, Zander Basile, Yasmeen Manning, Zoe Birrell, Ashton Hicks, Peyton-Louise Murray, Jake Bajaky, Madden Smith, Harrison Grosser.

Staff Leaving

There is a long list of staff leaving us in 2020, for a variety of reasons. We thank these people for their service to the community of Kingston PS and for their genuine care for our students and commitment to their roles:

Simon Philp, Peter Clarke, Donna Spencer, Kellie Carder, Talia Beales, Charlene Rose, Julie Hill, Stacey Daou, Renae Mackay, Jessica Oates, Catherine Billi, Mandy Mead, Emily Arndt and Troy Zanella.

We wish them all the best for their future endeavours.

School Premises

Just so there is no misunderstanding about use of the school premises during holiday periods and on weekends. Please take note of the following information so that you can ensure that your children are in the right areas.

Out of Bounds – Kindergarten grounds, Pre-Primary playground, inside the locked, gated area of the school.

Areas that are for public access – Oval, Basketball Courts, Senior Playground

In saying this, it is evident to all that our school oval is in considerable distress due to the heavy usage it receives over the year. We are undertaking an oval rehabilitation program over the coming holidays and ask that our community do not use it while the works are being undertaken. If possible, please stay away from it and give it a chance to repair.

If you happen to witness any vandalism, trespass or unruly behaviour in or around the school, please contact Education Security on 1800 177 777 or the Police on 13 14 44. These are 24-hour contacts and we really need the community to help us in this regard.

I hope you and your family have a relaxing and joyful break over the festive season.
