PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Summer has hit us this week here at Kingston as it has certainly been warm. Fortunately for us we are cool on the inside! Although, things have been heating up in more ways than just the temperature, it is our serious business end of the year where everyone has specific roles in preparation for the end of 2019 and the start of the 2020 school year.

We are currently reading and editing our student reports (about 760) which are due to go home on Tuesday 17 December 2019. Reading through these it is great to hear about so many fantastic achievements and the terrific progress that out kids have made in 2019.

We are also in the final weeks of primary school for our year six students which is a very exciting time for them. They are currently attending transition programs at ASHS.

Our leadership team is currently preparing the class structures for 2020. At this stage we are preparing for about 730 students from kindergarten to year six. This year we are losing about 120 year six graduates and gaining about 90 kindy kids. As a result of this our enrolment planning number is down by about 30 students in comparison to our current enrolments. We are also considering our budgets for next year with our finance committee meeting to approve or edit the budget submission for 2020.

Last week we had our last School Board Meeting for 2020. I would like to thank all of our Board members for their contribution this year. In particular, I would like to recognise Damian Lenane and his contributions as Board Chair this year. Damian is stepping down from this role in 2020 and our Board will elect a new chairperson next year.

Last week I attended my first Artbeat festival here at Kingston. It was an incredible day. I have vivid memories of watching our kids participate in the activities with huge smiles, dancing feet and paint brushes in hand. Well done to Mr Basille and Mrs Williams for organising another great event.

Finally, I would like to thank all of our teachers for the hard work and effort that they put into writing their student reports over the last few weeks. This is a really big job and it is something that I note is done really well here at Kingston. Thank you.

Have a great week

Ashley King
